survivors day
August 9, 2008
Many of you know I have been following a little girl who had cancer for almost two years. You can click here to see other photos of her that I’ve made. She battled cancer, and I’m writing the story to put in the Kernel hopefully sometime in early September. She is such a pretty, funny and normal little girl. Destiny is doing really well thus far and is now just getting scans every three months to make sure that her cancer hasn’t come back. But to her family and all who know her, remission is a horrifying name for “it could come back.”
Today was a survivors picnic.
Destiny tried but couldn’t swing her hammer hard enough to ding the bell at a carnival game. She turned to her mom and asked her to try so she could get a prize.
Destiny meets one of her nurse’s children for the first time.
Destiny hugs her mom after showing off her new sunglasses which she got for free at the survivors picnic.
Most kids were getting lady bugs, alligators and other creatures on her face. But Destiny asked to have the Dance Blue symbol painted on her face.
