Tasha Harris speaks with Judge Jones about her time left in drug court.
This is a project I have been working on for the HL. I have been pretty much all video lately. My only pictures in the paper have been portraits and building mugs. Working on this project over the past few days has given me a whirlwind of emotions. It’s a sad story. Even sadder is that this isn’t even near being the worst of what Oxy-Contin does to people.
Here is some story to catch you up:
Nine out of 10 times Tasha Harris performed, she says now, she was high.
She performed for 14 years at Renfro Valley before being asked to get her life together. Not long after she was fired, she was arrested, and now, three years later, she is almost finished with drug court. Judge Thomas Jones has given her an opportunity she may have taken for granite so many times before: one last chance to sing at Renfro Valley.
Judge Jones is a good man who says he wanted to give Tasha another chance because he’s just tired of putting people in jail.
Speaking with Tasha about her life and her upcoming performance at Renfro.
Tasha explaining her life in Beattyville now that she’s no longer a performer and in drug court.
Tasha explaining the effect drugs have on her, and anyone who is addicted.
This is Tasha when she performed at Renfro Valley, years ago. Now she is 33, has an 8-year-old, is unaware of her own failure, has no plan to get out of Beattyville or improve life in it, unless you count a Nashville Star audition. She has all the talent in the world. She just needs to go out and show it off.
