I like doing restaurant assignments.

This one was a jazz joint. Something I have learned about doing these things is to read the photo requests but not to get too caught up on thinking about everything they request or say. Some will say stuff like, “Don’t shoot pictures of the chicken dinner, because I didn’t review it.” But what do I care if they didn’t talk about it? My photos are to supplement their story, but they can also add to it. Just because they didn’t review the hot fudge pie doesn’t mean I can’t photograph it.

That’s not to say food columnists are too particular, I don’t mean that at all. But often they ask for pictures of the “art on the wall” and the “customers” but that doesn’t mean they have to be two separate photos.

I like food assignments because even though you need a picture off food, the overall,the interior and exterior, they really are a challenge to try and make them good and not boring.

I liked the color here, and the expression on her face (which is kind of hard to see this small).
