I remember covering a ribbon cutting in Memphis and John Sale, the director of visuals, telling me “I don’t want to see a single ribbon cutting photo.” I thought that was interesting, and when I thought about it I realized how awesome that challenge was. Most of the ribbon cuttings you go to are going to be this: Podium in front of whatever you’re opening, person at podium, people watching and dicing on the red rope. Read more
