One thing I like about documentary wedding photography is that people are going to look back on my photos and remember real instances, and be able to say, “Oh, I remember that! We were debating on using this necklace and decided it was just too much!” If you don’t have a documentary photographer, you’re going to look back and have a lot of pictures where you say, “Oh I remember that, the photographer told us to do that.”

Maybe I’m a romantic, or an idealist, but I prefer to let things happen natural. That doesn’t mean I don’t do all of the cool portraits, or there aren’t moments when I’ll pull a bride and groom aside to pose up a portrait, but 75 percent of my take is going to be real love, and I think that’s cool.
